Cette artiste canadienne est titu­laire d’un diplô­me néer­lan­dais presti­gieux ayant suivi une formation auprès de l’artiste Daniel van der Velden et du docu­men­ta­riste Rob Schrö­der à l’INS­TI­TUT SAND­BERG de l’Acadé­mie Gerrit Riet­veld à Ams­ter­dam. Elle travaille comme jour­na­liste visu­elle, mène des recher­ches origi­nales et déve­loppe une esthé­tique ins­pi­rée par l’actualité.
Elle possède une expérience irré­pro­chable et a travaillé sur de nom­breux projets édito­riaux primés pour des noms influents. 
Pour PENGUIN RANDOM HOUSE Canada, elle a repen­sé le design de HAZLITT ORIGI­NALS, une marque de livres numériques qui a publié des jour­na­listes de renom comme Patrick Gra­ham, Alistair MacLeod et Ivor Tossell, et de HAZ­LITT, un maga­zine litté­raire numé­ri­que phare, lauréat d’un Prix du magazine canadien. Avec l’auteur Daniel Canty, elle a créé SEPT PROSES SUR LA POÉSIE, un livre imprimé pour la revue de poésie ESTU­AIRE, ﬁna­liste du Grand Prix du livre de Montréal.

Elle a dirigé l’iden­tité visuelle de BLOCK SIDE­WALK dans sa campagne contre le projet de Sidewalk Labs visant à construire une smart city à Toronto. Elle a également dirigé l’iden­tité du CENTRE DE DROITS NUMÉ­RI­QUES de Jim Balsillie.

Champagne est une per­sonne géné­reuse et une péda­go­gue natu­relle. Elle colla­bore avec la Dre Sarah Moser à l’UNI­VERSITÉ McGILL et a ensei­gné et donné des confé­ren­ces à HARVARD GSD et à l’UQAM.

Proﬁle


	EN – Graphic art is full of people who think of little else. Michèle Champagne is not one of them.
The Canadian artist holds a noted Dutch degree, having trained with artist Daniel van der Velden and the late docu­men­tary ﬁlm­maker Rob Schröder at Gerrit Riet­veld Acade­my’s SAND­BERG INSTI­TUTE in Ams­ter­dam. She opera­tes as a visual jour­na­list and deve­lops original research and an aes­the­tic sha­ped by news.

Champagne holds impeccable industry cre­den­tials and has worked with in­fluen­tial publish­ing names.

For PENGUIN Ran­dom House Cana­da, she rede­sign­ed HAZLITT ORIGI­NALS, an ebook imprint that pub­lished noted jour­na­lists like Patrick Gra­ham, Alistair Mac­Leod, and Ivor Tossell, and HAZLITT, its flagship digi­tal lite­rary maga­zine which won a National Maga­zine Award. With author Daniel Canty, she crea­ted the book SEPT PROSES SUR LA POÉSIE for ESTUAIRE jour­nal, ﬁnalist for the Mon­treal Book Prize.

Champagne’s creativity translates easily to archi­tec­ture media and the analysis of smart cities.

On research and photo­gra­phy pro­jects, she has worked with MVRDV for Next City in Rotterdam and Beijing and with CHE­VA­LIER MORA­LES for the Bien­nale Archi­tet­tura di Venezia. She direct­ed BLOCK SIDE­WALK’s visual iden­tity in its cam­paign against Side­walk Labs’ pitch to build a private smart city in Toronto.
