Profil
Profile
With a documentary eye and an editorial attitude, Michèle Champagne takes a journalistic approach to graphic art. For over fifteen years, she has structured her work around the study of mandatory positivity and its effects on freedom of expression, the art and architecture press, the happiness industry, emotion misrecognition, and “smart” cities. This research then takes a visual turn through images, words, publishing, and teaching.
Michèle develops her work as a research resident in public archives, as research and communications consultant with design and architecture firms, as art director of books and magazines for publishing houses, and as guest professor and lecturer in universities, from Graduate School of Design at Harvard University to School of Design at University of Quebec in Montreal. Numerous are the awards she has received for this work.
She has exhibited extensively in the Netherlands, from Design Academy Eindhoven to Brakke Grond, Droog, Eye Film Institute, Pakhuis de Zwijger, Schellens Fabriek, De Verdieping at Trouw, and Vondelpark in Amsterdam. She has also exhibited at Cappo Di Lucca in Bologna, Design Exchange in Toronto, and Eleanor D. Wilson Museum in Roanoke, Virginia.
